ARCA, the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association, committed to promoting the growth and image of the UK’s asbestos abatement industry is pleased to announce that it has appointed Steve Sadley as its new Chief Executive.

Beginning his career as an asbestos analyst, Steve joined current ATAC member company OHS Ltd where he progressed to become an asbestos surveyor and project manager. Taking up the opportunity to work in Hong Kong undertaking asbestos survey work and asbestos project management on behalf of the Mass Transit Railway Corporation in 1997, he returned to the UK to join former ARCA member Detech Environmental as Asbestos Manager before moving to join ARCA as Business Development Manager in 2000.

Since then, Steve was promoted to ARCA’s General Manager and finally took over the leading role in January when Terry Jago retired after a successful 12 years as Chief Executive.

Steve said: “I am delighted to be given the opportunity to represent the industry in which I have spent the whole of my professional career and I look forward to working with the membership, the Governing Council and the various committees to ensure that ARCA remains a pro active Association that provides tangible benefits to its membership. The main objective of my role is to implement the policies determined by the Association’s Governing Council and ensure that ARCA and ATAC members continue to be viewed as the very best companies operating within the asbestos management industry.”

Steve continued: “This will involve continuing the excellent work that has been done within the association since its inception 27 years ago and facing the challenges that lie ahead in the future.”

“It is quite evident that the HSE are determined to continue to raise the standards of Health and Safety within our industry, and whilst I am confident that the standards exhibited by both ARCA and ATAC members are the very best in the industry it is important that ARCA ensures that this continues to be the case in the future. ARCA will continue to support its member’s needs and continue to provide the innovative and professional services that the membership has come to expect.”
